Santa Fe

June 2021

Hi! This is a continuation of my New Mexico trip. If you haven’t read the first part, it was in Albuquerque and you can read it here.

Day 3

We checked out of our Albuquerque Airbnb and went to Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm, and it was such a cute & relaxing spot for coffee, to enjoy the gardens & alpacas! You can also stay here as well, ride bikes, and enjoy the yoga classes.

We had lunch at Cocina Azul, then drove to El Rancho de Las Golondrinas. I wished we had more time at this museum (only $6 admission) because the history was amazing! It’s about the history, culture, & heritage of New Mexico in the 1700s, 18th & 19th centuries. In each room, there’s a volunteer to give you the history of a certain room. They had activities such as making corn, sewing, and more, but we came towards closing time, so they have stopped the activities. It would have been great to experience it, but it was nice to see it. I’m always in awe of how people lived back then, and it makes me more grateful for life and not take life for granted. One of the things I learned was that they used sheep’s fur/skin to sew blankets. They use dye to make the blankets colorful besides the black, gray, and white from the sheep’s fur/skin. One of the dyes came from beetles to make a reddish color! WOW, right?

After that, we checked into our Santa Fe airbnb, and went to Santa Fe Railyard, Old Town Santa Fe, and Santa Fe Brewery Company. It was a late Sunday afternoon, so everything was closed. But I’m sure if things were opened, it would be more lively, because it looks like a nice little town/area to explore. Santa Fe Brewery Company was awesome. They had cheap beers ($5 a regular glass), $4 to purchase the labeled glass, and the bartender was super nice and gave us free stickers!

Day 4

It was my last day in New Mexico, and we went to Meow Wolf in the morning. For Meow Wolf, you cannot bring a backpack, only a side bag of some sort. You also cannot bring water in there either. This exhibit reminds me of other colorful artsy interactive museums, but this one is in 3D. It’s a place to take your artsy & creative Instagram pictures. This can be a fun date night or family event. They have a lot of rooms that leads to other rooms, for example, you can go inside a refrigerator that lead you to another room. You can go inside an ice machine that lead you to a room full of mirrors, etc. Inside they also have restrooms, cafe, and a gift shop.

After Meow Wolf, we went to Ten Thousand Waves Spa. It was a very relaxing and serene place. You must book reservations in advance. They have a restaurant, lodging, and many massages and hot tubs to choose from. We experienced the Water Fall Hot Tub for 90 minutes, and the space of the hot tub was great for 3 people. The facility was very clean. They provide towels, robes, water, slippers and have a place to shower (with shampoo, conditioner, & body wash)/changing room + sauna. They even had a “cold” tub to dip in if the hot tub got really hot. The jets were strong. They also had a 15-minute reminder over the intercom. After we finished, we paid at the front & explored the gift shop.

After relaxing at the spa, I left to the airport! Santa Fe’s airport is the smallest airport I’ve ever been to! It was so small that I was the only 1 in line for security (maybe because I got there a bit early) and there’s only 1 security machine, there’s only 2 gates, 2 seating areas, 2 TVs, 2 single room restrooms, and a vending machine! The airport is so small that they don’t even have a restaurant! Wow, right?

Overall, New Mexico was better than I expected! I was glad the weather wasn’t crazy hot in late June (it could have been 100 degrees, but luckily, the weather changed on us!). I would definitely come back to New Mexico during October to experience the Hot Air Balloon Festival! #viviansventures

As always, thank you for visiting Vivian’s Ventures. Have you been to Santa Fe? If so, tell me in the comments/reply section of your experience. What should I do if I go back? If you haven’t been, tell me what you are planning to do there. Any questions or comments, let me know. Let’s chat!
